Day 40

Gina and I visited Austin tonight and also spent some time talking with his doctor. As you can see from the picture above, the CPAP mask has returned. Earlier this evening, Austin just tuckered out from working so hard to breathe while on the cannula. The last 6 or 7 days can really be summed up as two steps forward and one step back which at the end of the day is progress.

Austin is so precious and so adorable...the pictures don't quite capture how handsome (mommy says cute) he is. His weight increased by 45 grams from last night to 965 grams which is 2 pounds, 2 ounces. He is now 13 inches long...he was 12 1/4 inches at birth.

The last 40+ days have been a blur for us. I want to reiterate how thankful we are for all of the encouragment and support that we have received from family and friends. Coupled with the strength from our almighty Father, it really does help carry us on into the next day.

  • I agree.....he is a handsome and cute little dude! He's even got some biceps going!Look at it this way.....he is breathing on his own and not back on the vent!I am glad for the continued weight gain!Looking forward to seeing him tomorrow at work. I am praying everyday for him!

  • Jon and Gina, Where do we stand with the fluid on his lungs. Has he overcome that and out of the woods? Just curious! Austin sure is a good looking dude. He must take after his uncle Dave!

    We Love you all,
    Dave

  • He is still amazing all of us how well he is doing. what a little fighter and a TRUE MIRACLE.

Watching his progress everday is hard to even describe how awesome it is. GOD's work right before our eyes. We are all witnesses of THE ALMIGHTY. I praise God for helping Austin and Jon and Gina in this time of need . We love You!!!

  • I remember when I embarked on the NICU journey, my priest told me it would be Lent a little early. You've made your 40 days. Keep going. Easter's just around the corner.
