Day 45

Celebration Day, Austin reached a KILO. He tipped the scales at exactly 1000 grams tonight. This is a recognized milestone in the NICU...all of the nurses gave him a standing "O" Still hanging out on the CPAP machine today with 5 liters of pressure (6 liters is the highest, 2 liters is the lowest).

"You are a Great God. Your character is Holy. Your truth is absolute. Your strength is unending. Your discipline is fair...Your provisions are abundant for our needs. Your light is adequate for our path. Your grace is sufficient for our sins...You are never early, never late...You sent your Son in the fullness of time and will return at the consumation of time. Your plan is perfect. Bewildering. Puzzling. Troubling. But perfect."

This quote is taken from the book Safe in the Shepard's Arms by Max Lucado. We have clung to these words since Austin's unexpected arrival and wanted to share them with you.

  • Austin e-mailed me again this morning to tell me that it was really great for the standing "O" since he plans to get many of them in the future for being a star in his singing group. He told me that he has been reahersing his 2 new hits...."YOU AIN'T NOTHING BUT A HOTDOG"(he still has food on his mind) and "ISOLETTE HOUSE ROCK".He also wanted me to tell my co-workers that he is really not unhappy when he crys and wiggles around.....he is just practicing for his debut. He also told asked me if he could use the cpap alarm light and phototherapy lights for special effects! I said I would ask! Austin said he sounds so good in the isolette.....it's like singing in the shower! I am so happy for you both and know God has his hand on your entire family. I am trying to bring some enlightment and humor to your stressful situation. I feel humor is the best medicine along with God!
